Aluminium Grill Price in Delhi: What You’re Really Paying For (and How to Get a Fair Quote)

You ask two shops for a quote on the same set of window grills. One number makes you smile. The other is nearly double. Same windows, same “aluminium”, same colour. So who’s overcharging, and who’s cutting corners?

Usually, neither. The two quotes just aren’t for the same grill. If you’re shortlisting an aluminium grill supplier Delhi has to offer, the price conversation is where most buyers get stuck, and it’s also where a little knowledge saves the most money.

We’ve supplied aluminium profiles and sections from Paharganj for over 25 years, and the first question at our counter is almost always, “How much per foot?” Fair question. It just doesn’t have a one-line answer. This guide explains why, and shows you how to ask for a quote you can actually compare. If you’re still deciding between iron and aluminium, read our earlier piece on why Delhi homes are moving from iron grills to aluminium jaali first, then come back here for the money side.

Why two quotes for the “same” grill never match

Aluminium isn’t sold like a branded phone, where the model number settles everything. A grill is a bundle of choices: how much metal sits in each bar, which alloy it’s made from, what finish goes on top, and how it’s cut and joined. Change any one of those and the price moves.

It’s a bit like buying a mattress. Two shops both say “foam”. The density inside is what you’re really paying for, and you only feel the difference five years later.

The six things that decide aluminium grill price in Delhi

1. Wall thickness: the question most buyers never ask

Aluminium sections are priced by weight, and weight comes from how thick the walls are. A thinner wall means less metal and a lower price. It also means a grill that dents easily and flexes when a ladder bumps it or a child leans on it.

From across the room, a 1.0 mm wall and a 1.5 mm wall look almost the same. In your hand, and after two monsoons, they really don’t. So ask for the wall thickness in millimetres, and ask for it in writing.

2. Section weight in kg per metre

Every extruded section has a fixed weight per metre, set by its die. This number is the key to comparing quotes, because:

Cost per metre = section weight (kg/m) × rate per kg

Here’s an illustration. Take two bars quoted at the same rate per kg. Bar A weighs 0.45 kg/m and Bar B weighs 0.60 kg/m. Bar B costs a third more per metre, because it simply has a third more metal in it, and it’s usually the sturdier one.

So when a quote looks cheap, check why. Is the rate lower, or is the section lighter? Those are two very different reasons.

3. Alloy and temper

Architectural extrusions are commonly made from 6063-grade alloy, which extrudes cleanly and takes coatings well. Inconsistent material tends to show up later as surface streaks or patchy colour after coating. A supplier who can’t tell you the alloy they’re selling is a supplier to question.

4. Finish

Mill finish is the cheapest, but it’s not meant to be seen every day. Anodising costs more and gives a harder, metallic look. Powder coated aluminium is the usual choice for Delhi homes, and its price depends on two things you can’t see on day one: the surface preparation before coating and the thickness of the coat. Both show up clearly by year three, when a poor coating starts to chalk. Wood-grain effects also cost more than plain solid colours.

We’ve written a full guide on picking a powder-coated finish that survives Delhi’s heat, dust and monsoon if you want the detail.

5. Design complexity

Plain vertical bars are the easiest job: cut, fit, done. An aluminium jaali, a perforated pattern or a custom-cut decorative panel takes more cutting, creates more offcuts and needs far more careful measuring. More labour and more wastage means a higher price. That’s not a trick, just arithmetic.

6. Size, quantity and timing

Aluminium follows global metal markets, so the rate can shift between the day you ask and the day you order. That’s why any honest quote carries a validity date. Larger quantities usually get a better rate, odd custom sizes create more offcuts, and delivery to Noida or Gurugram costs differently from picking up at our Paharganj shop.

How to compare quotes properly

Don’t compare rates. Compare specifications. Ask every supplier for the same five things:

Ask every supplier forWhy it matters
Wall thickness (mm)Decides strength, dent resistance and a big part of the price
Section weight (kg/m)Lets you turn any per-kg rate into a per-metre cost
Alloy and finish typeTells you what’s actually being coated and how
What’s included: cutting, fittings, delivery, fixingA low quote that leaves these out isn’t low
How long the quote stays validMetal rates move, so a number without a date is just a hope

Then do the sum: kg/m × rate gives the cost per metre, and your total running metres plus extras gives the cost per window. Compare the cost per window, not the cost per kg. It takes ten minutes and it will change which quote looks best.

The costs people forget

  • Fasteners. Plain steel screws can react with aluminium over time and leave stains. Stainless or coated fasteners cost a little more and save a lot of annoyance.
  • Fixing and wall work. Older Delhi walls are rarely square. Drilling, plugging and touch-ups add labour.
  • Cutting wastage. Especially with jaali panels and custom sizes, keep a small buffer.
  • Delivery and unloading. Easy to overlook until the truck is at your gate.
  • Re-ordering after a wrong measurement. Measuring twice is free. Ordering twice isn’t.

Where to save, and where not to

Safe places to save money:

  • Standard sizes and simple bar patterns
  • Lighter colours such as cream, white or light grey, which also stay cooler in summer
  • Ordering everything in one go, so colour matches and delivery is combined. If your project also needs sheets, our guide on what to check when ordering aluminium sheets in Delhi helps you plan both together

Places to never cut corners:

  • Wall thickness on street-facing or ground-floor windows
  • Coating quality and surface preparation
  • Fasteners and fixing method

One honest caution: a decorative aluminium grill is not a security grill. If you need real protection, say so upfront and a good supplier will suggest a heavier section or a reinforced option instead of letting you assume.

Choosing an aluminium grill supplier in Delhi without overpaying

A good aluminium grill supplier Delhi buyers can trust will ask questions before naming a rate. Which floor? Which direction does the window face? Do you want ventilation, privacy or both? If someone quotes “best price, sir” over the phone without asking a single thing, treat that as a warning sign.

Look for a supplier who lets you hold a sample section, gives the thickness in writing, and is honest when a cheaper option will do the job. That’s easier when you can actually walk in. Many of our customers come from Paharganj, Karol Bagh and Sadar Bazaar, the heart of Delhi’s aluminium and hardware trade, or from across Delhi NCR, and they like seeing the material before they pay for it. At Bahubali Aluminium Co., we’d rather lose a sale than see you fit the wrong section.

What to send us for a quick quote

You don’t need a drawing. A WhatsApp message with these details is enough:

  • Number of windows and approximate sizes (in feet or mm)
  • Floor and location, for example “ground floor, facing the lane”
  • Design you like: vertical bars, jaali or a reference photo
  • Preferred colour or finish
  • Whether you need delivery, and where

FAQs

How much does an aluminium grill cost in Delhi?
There’s no honest single figure. The price depends on wall thickness, section weight, finish, design and size, and the metal rate moves with the market. Send your measurements and ask for a written quote, which is the only number that actually means something.

Why is an aluminium grill usually costlier than an iron grill at first?
Aluminium often costs more upfront but saves on repainting and rust repairs later. We compared both in detail in our iron vs aluminium grill guide.

Does powder coating add to the price?
Yes, but in Delhi’s heat, dust and monsoon it’s money well spent. Just remember that the surface preparation matters as much as the colour.

Should I compare price per kg or price per foot?
Neither on its own. Compare the total cost per window for the same thickness, alloy and finish.

Can I order custom sizes and designs?
Yes. Share your measurements and a reference photo, and we’ll suggest sections, patterns and finishes that fit.

Do you deliver outside Delhi?
We deliver across Delhi NCR, including Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad.

The bottom line

A cheap quote isn’t automatically a bad one, and an expensive quote isn’t automatically a good one. What matters is knowing what’s inside the number: thickness, weight, alloy, finish and what’s included. Ask for those, compare per window, and the right choice usually becomes obvious.
